about level and profile

Hi,

according to the "advanced" menu, the latest beta (0.9) only supports baseline profiles and a level up to 3.0.

Is it planed to support other profiles and higher levels?

ps: I can select a resolution of 1920x1080, but I thought level 3.0 could not support this.
Am I wrong or is it maybe a bug in badaboom showing 3.0 as max?

We will be adjusting that so that the level can go up to 4.1. However, when you select the "Auto" level, it will support levels higher than 3.0. We will also be fixing the current settings so that the level and resolutions will correlate correctly. Thanks for your input!

Is the difference in quality

Is the difference in quality between baseline and main very big?
I ask because I am usually able to transcode normal tv shows to
x264 at bitrates like 800 without noticeable drop in quality but
if I use the same bitrate with badaboom the quality is horrible.

Depending on the settings

Depending on the settings used difference in quality between baseline and main can be big. Current release of Badaboom targets portable devices and they only support baseline. With our test streams we have not found much difference between x264 and Badaboom, however we are open to expanding our test streams.
