Badaboom is turning into a great program and I think I will be buying it when 1.1 comes out.
But I really do not like how the black bars that are in the source file get encoded. It would be nice if there was an option to not have these black bars in the output file. That way the output file would be smaller.
Black Bars in the VideoSubmitted by LTR450 on Tue, 12/09/2008 - 11:15 |

Seconded...
I agree that the black bars a problem. Cropping would be a great option to add for output video. It's a pain having to crop manually and autocropping is easy enough to do these days. I would even settle for the option to manually input cropping values. Encoding the black bars is simply a waste of space.
Having a crop option has also
Having a crop option has also been requested. The problem is that once you transcode a video into a different aspect ratio than the original you get the black bars. So the new video is marked as having a different aspect ratio than the original, and transcoding software like Badaboom can't see the black bars and don't know what the original aspect ratio was. So the cropping isn't a bad idea and it's been passed up to the powers that be and added to our list of future updates, but we can't give a timeline as to when that will be available.
